Initial Design for No2 of three-holiday houses on the Cyclades Island, Greece
The villa of ca. 250sqm is composed by a generous Open plan living area with adjacent Terrace and Garden extending over the sea, a Master suite connected to the main house and four separate Guesthouses. The volumes are inserted into the landscape and keep the slope line of the existing land.
Rather than imposing a conventional building volume on the site, the architecture is carved into the terrain, following the existing topography and integrating seamlessly with the surrounding stone terraces and vegetation.
The residence develops across different levels, with large portions embedded into the hillside, reducing its visual impact while opening the living spaces towards uninterrupted sea views.
Natural stone retaining walls, warm timber ceilings, light-coloured surfaces and expansive glazing establish a contemporary yet timeless Mediterranean architectural language.
At the heart of the project, a generous open-plan living area extends onto a shaded terrace beneath a timber pergola, creating a continuous transition between interior and exterior spaces. Outdoor lounges, dining areas and landscaped gardens become an integral part of everyday living.
The surrounding landscape, with olive trees, Mediterranean planting and natural rock formations, flows around and over the architecture, allowing the villa to almost disappear into the hillside.
The result is a quiet, contemporary retreat where architecture, landscape and Mediterranean light become one.
