New development in Alassio Liguria, Italy

An Architecture Shaped by Landscape

Some places ask to be respected before they are ever built upon. This villa was born from that very idea: not to dominate the landscape, but to become part of it.

Nestled among ancient olive trees in the hillside of Alassio and carefully shaped to follow the natural contours of the land, the 4 bedroom house unfolds as an extension of the land, allowing light, the sea, and the Mediterranean landscape to define the living experience. Every design decision was guided by the desire to create a genuine dialogue between architecture and nature, minimizing the building's impact while enhancing the site's original character.

The villa is arranged on a single level, with a simple and intuitive layout. The open-plan living area, framed by large floor-to-ceiling glass walls, where the living room, kitchen, dining area, and terrace merge into one continuous space. The bedrooms are positioned in the lateral wing, ensuring privacy, tranquility, and uninterrupted views of the surrounding landscape.

At the center of the composition lies an open-air courtyard—the true heart of the project. More than just an outdoor space, it connects the two wings of the villa while acting as a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors. Sheltered by a timber pergola, the courtyard provides protection from the summer sun and prevailing winds, creating a naturally comfortable microclimate to enjoy throughout the day.

Natural materials such as local stone, warm-toned plaster, and timber blend harmoniously with the olive groves and the colors of the Mediterranean coastline. Generous roof overhangs, covered terraces, and the pergola provide shade and comfort, encouraging outdoor living throughout the seasons.

The outdoor areas are conceived as a natural extension of the home, where every space invites relaxation and connection with nature. The infinity pool becomes the focal point of the landscape, while the spacious sun deck offers complete privacy and breathtaking views. Beneath the shade of the olive trees, a cozy lounge with a fireplace creates the perfect setting for long summer evenings. Completing the experience are dedicated leisure areas, including a table tennis court and a traditional bocce court, designed to encourage moments of fun and togetherness with family and friends.

The entire project embraces passive sustainability principles. Optimal orientation, natural cross-ventilation, a green roof, integrated photovoltaic panels, and minimal land impermeabilization all contribute to reducing energy consumption while preserving the natural balance of the site.

Beyond its technical qualities, however, this house is above all a way of life.

It is waking up to soft morning light with the sea on the horizon. It is enjoying breakfast on the terrace while listening to the breeze moving through the olive trees, spending long afternoons by the pool, and gathering beneath the pergola as the sunset paints the landscape in warm Mediterranean colors.

For us, designing a holiday home means far more than creating an exclusive residence. It means crafting a place that continues to inspire emotions over time—a place where architecture, landscape, and wellbeing come together in perfect harmony, creating memories that will last for generations.
